We are a Mother and Daughter duo (Julie & Rebecca ) with a background in art textiles. Combining our love of soft furnishings and surface pattern design we started Marram in 2016.
Everything you find at Marram has been naturally dyed and created by hand by yours truely! We take pride in having total control over the whole process from start to finish.
We only dye in small batches to insure consistency and attention to detail is present at all times. All items are created in our home studios by the ocean in Hossegor SW and in the countryside of the Charente, France.
We take inspiration from coastal living and the beautiful French nature that surrounds us. Soaking up the marine blue hues from the Atlantic and the ever changing seasonal colours of the countryside. Being lucky to be able to break up the sketching and designing process by taking refreshing dips in the sea or walking the dogs on our farm.
We use various dyeing techniques from the ancient Japanese art of Shibori or block printing to the more modern methods of ice dyeing. We love the spontaneousness and delicacy of each individual piece we create.
We only use textiles from naturally derived fibres & dye with a combination of foraged, food waste, pure plant extracts and mineral dyes.
We predominantly use European linen and silk. We also try to up-cycle and use as much vintage French fabric as we can source in our local areas. Beautiful linens and cottons are carefully chosen through endless searching of brocantes and antique fairs. We love the idea that our white fabric has already had a previous life before we add colour to it!
Custom orders are welcome!
